Auricular Acupuncture

acupuncture

In Chinese medicine there are 200 points in the ear which corresponding to organs in the body: the lungs, kidneys, liver and the nervous system. When these points are stimulated, the organs are strengthened and balanced. Auricular acupuncture also has a calming effect that works to rebalance and harmonise the body's natural energy and correct imbalances by restoring and maintaining the body's natural equilibrium and encourage healing.

The treatment helps to stimulate the production of endorphins (the body's natural pain relievers) and is beneficial in treating addictions whether the substance is drugs, food, alcohol, nicotine or related to general stress issues. It helps to ease craving and reduce withdrawal symptoms. While these benefits in treating substance abuse are widely recognised it also provides results in the treatment of stress, weight control and sleep disorders. It is a safe effective technique to relieve tension and stress, induce relaxation and reduce compulsive behaviour.

What happens during a treatment?

Five small needles are placed in each ear and each session lasts for 45 minutes. Some people meditate, visualise or fall asleep during this time.

Once the needles are in place, your ears may tingle and feel warm. Some people say that they feel relaxed or sleepy when they are having a treatment; others may feel nothing at all.

Ear acupuncture becomes more effective the more you have it (but it is non addictive) so we recommend that you come as often as you can.
